ATTENTION AND CONCENTRATION: RULES TO MAKE GOOD USE OF TIME

February 11, 2017 admin 0

Attention and concentration are essential in order to make good use of the time devoted to study and the explanations provided by the teacher during class. For many of you this is a true issue. The need to be attentive and to concentrate during study time is something essential. There are many elements that influence concentration:

– Motivation and interest in study.

– Worries: family issues, problems with classmates, problems with friends, worries of romantic or sexual nature, money issues, etc.

– The place where you study and its conditions.

– Fatigue: you cannot study while being tired or sleepy.

But we can do something so that these factors influence as little as possible. Try to motivate yourself. Think that what you do is for your own benefit if not, be sure that you will fail. Why do I study? What I wish to accomplish? How can study contribute to my personal development? Answer these questions yourself and act accordingly. Think about yourself, your future, your ideas, your illusions, do not get carried away by negative situations around you or other people’s opinions or the idea of a strike; fight, make an effort, keep going forward.

You also need to try and solve your problems and concerns. Face your problems. Find a way out. There is always a solution. Seek for advice; seek for Help in your teachers, friends, psychologists. Do not let yourself down.

You also need to take care of the environment in which you study.

Take care of your physical health and your resting time. Do not be a sleepyhead. Be respectful with your sleeping schedule. Exercise a little.

Attention, then, is not just something related to will power. We also have to consider everything that we have mentioned before. In order to avoid boredom study actively and dynamically: using pen and paper. Take notes, underline, build charts, and find in the dictionary those words you do not understand. One of the most productive moments is when we follow the explanations given in class. Be positive towards the teacher and the subject. Do not let the obstacles you find in your way bring you down. All of this will guarantee that you learn from all that content. I promise!
